history of buggy: the history of the buggy

A Buggy is a lightweight chariot of two wheels or four, originally popular in the nineteenth century, and in the United States as a baby carriage.
Of course the buggy that appears in this game is a lightweight open car that can run on tough terrain under unpredictable conditions.
The first Buggy was devised by Bruce Mayers in the mid-1960's in California, America.
The Buggy's open body design went through among the temperate American West Coast bleessed with the sun, among the motor fan inland.

The buggy was also the most popular car at the motor show in the West Coast region.

Buggies decorated with glittering metal frames, flashy paint jobs, colourful innumerable accessories etc, have always been eye-catching and became a model for many Buggy fans. Buggies in countries other than the United States were Australia and South Africa with vast wastelands suitable for cross-country, with a mild climate.
In Europe, it did not suit the climate, plus a place suitable for Buggies to drive were few and far between.
The British Buggy was used for race prizes, personal gifts, displats etc, rather than being used as a vehicle.
Unfortunately, in Japan, the Buggy is also not very popular.

SUSPENSION
On off-road machines, keep the car-weight balance behind so that it does not get stuck from the front when jumping.
Therefore, the front suspension is lightweight and lightweight suspension with high rigidity and fast reaction is required so that it can run on any road surface.
Conversely, since the weight of the entire rear suspension reaches the rear suspension at a stretch, it is necessary to have the rigidity enough to support the total weight at all times.

TIRES
Because the tires are huge, the burden on the engine is great. Therefore, we made as light weight as possible. It is also necessary to have robustness to withstand high-laying road surfaces, the aluminum dish wheel is often used.
Also, in order to prevent the tire from coming off, put a ring on the outside of the wheel as a stopper, and also give detailed consideration.

ENGINE
Light and small air-cooled Porsche, Wagen etc engines are often used.
In additionm the Buggy has exposed the engine like a motorcycle, it is easier to maintain, and in the race in the desert the air cleaner, which is likely to develop clogging into a serious problem, increases inhalation efficiency and also exchanges various devices are being devised, such as being able to easily detach, a huge one in a position easy to remove.
Also, as for the air filter, a wet type in which oil is immersed in a sponge like a motorcycle is also used.
